I was collared a year ago to my old daddy but it wasn’t a serious collaring and he wasn’t really into ddlg, I’ve been with my new daddy for 8 months and we’ve been talking about me being collared but I want to know more about it first.

It’s a sign of ownership in the BDSM community and not really something DDlg relationships do unless they are also into pet play or D/s relationships. Some littles just wear them because they are cute.

There are training collars, which are meant for rough play and used during scenes and/or while you are being trained and the relationship is not yet official. Discreet collars are used to be worn in public, so the sub/pet wears it as a reminder they are owned, often times just worn because they like how it looks and even just used as an accessory. Ownership collars tend to be fancier and not necessarily made for play. More like the discreet collars they can be used for a sign of ownership, often given to the sub/pet by their dominant to wear around. You don’t need to be collared to wear these, but generally they are given as a significant item in the relationship, much like a promise ring.

In DDlg it’s not so much training like other BDSM relationships. There is always chore charts and the swapfinder.com like for learning good habits and helping the little grow, but it’s not considered sexual training. (I can’t speak for all of these relationships, but this is the gist of it). Really caregivers are supposed to help littles grow and learn. Many couples mix other aspects of BDSM in their time, but there are many others that don’t. Ddlg isn’t something that has to be sexual.

Finding an actual store is nearly impossible when it comes to finding collars. I would assume many sex shops would carry them as well as any place that sells BDSM related things. I have seen some custom dog collar shops that make collars for people too and leather working shops. You can also find them at some conventions. (Personally I’ve gotten a couple from anime conventions, they have some vendors that sell leather cuffs and fantasy stuff too. And be sure to check Renaissance fairs. Often enough people openly carry floggers and whips) some online places unrelated to etsy for the more cute stuff would be kittensplaypen, wonderlandplaypen, and black peach shop. You can also make your own, there are tutorials online. For more frilly collars hot topic and places like it might have a few things, you just gotta look.

Lavender summed everything up nicely. My personal experience with collaring has been nothing but good. I find that wearing my collar gives me a tiny sense of pride and makes me a little more confident in public because I feel like I’m showing off the fact that someone loves me. Also for some reason being collared helps with my anxiety and calms me down a bit, I have no clue why it does, but I like it! ^.^

I’m a collared little, and while I do have a collar for play time, I usually wear a discreet collar 24/7.

Mine came from an online store that handcrafts all of their collars. The site’s name is Eternity Collars. I have a black stainless steel one from them that I wear in the winter time, and a titanium one that I wear during the summer. It’s helps that I can’t wear sterling silver or anything with nickel in it.

Lavender summed everything up perfectly, but I would caution that you and your Daddy discuss this a lot, negotiate, and talk some more before you do it. Talk about what the collar would mean to you, to him, and what you want the ceremony to mean to you both.
